Much like discussing weather, family, and politics seems to be a safety net for those unskilled in the art of conversation, so to is discussing the quality of cafeteria food. Asking almost anybody that eats in a cafeteria about the food is like asking an engineering major "Mac or PC?" You guarantee yourself an emotionally charged, detail-oriented conversation lasting no less than 30 minutes, free of awkward silences.

of a sign, the Lesbian Gay Bisexual

Transgender (LGBT)

Center in the west wing of the

Thwing Center opened its doors

on Monday.

The opening, originally projected

for late March when renovations

began in early February,

was pushed back to April, then

to "Spring 2010," an estimate

that was still displayed on the

sign outside the entrance late into the summer.

After undergoing a year of cosmetic and structural renovations, Walters Hall has finally opened its doors. And for many, the changes brought a welcome new look to the dorm hall.

"I love it, I lived in Walters three and a half semesters when I was in school, so I look down the hall and can't believe it," said Kenna Middleton, director of housing.

A decade-long struggle to adopt domestic partner benefits at Eastern came to an end recently when Eastern President Doug Whitlock announced at fall convocation the university would adopt the policy, making it available later this fall.

Referred to in the policy as "sponsored dependent" benefits, the term, President Whitlock told the crowd, wasn't meant to mislead.

After three years of construction, a record is being broken in West Virginia. The nation's longest continuous segmental span bridge is almost complete over the Kanawha River linking Dunbar and South Charleston.

When completely finished, the bridge will carry eastbound traffic on I-64 in order to improve safety and alleviate congestion from the existing bridge, which will then hold all westbound traffic.
